WHERE WERE YOU 50 YEARS AGO TODAY?
On that awful day in 1963, I was in 6th grade at Jeffersontown Elementary. In those days we had milk break. Myself and Dickie Farmer were on our way back to class from the cafeteria with our milk when Mr. Seakamp our principal announced over the intercom that President Kennedy had been shot and killed in Dallas. When Dickie and I walked back into the classroom our teacher, Mrs Cleveland was sitting at her desk sobbing. A lot of my classmates cried with her although I'm not sure we totally understood the magnitude of what had just happened.
As an adult I can look back on that day in a different light. This was our President who was deeply respected in his position. I also see how the hate of one individual can wreak havoc on so many lives.
Who can ever forget this picture?
For today and everyday get rid of the hate in your heart, it hurts no one but yourself. Never fail to tell those that you love that you do love them. Cherish your family and your friends.
